HALLDE is a Swedish manufacturer of professional food preparation machines, built in Sweden since 1941. For more than eight decades the company has done one thing and done it exceptionally: machines that take the slow, repetitive, risky knife work out of a professional kitchen. The range spans compact vegetable preparation machines for a cafe through to floor-standing units that process tonnes an hour, alongside vertical cutter blenders, combination cutters and high-volume blenders. Every machine is engineered, built and tested in Sweden, with the same priorities running through all of them — a perfect cut, genuine operator safety, and the kind of build that survives years of daily service. When prep volume is the bottleneck, HALLDE is how kitchens clear it.

EU's Take

Why We Stock HALLDE

Prep is where a lot of kitchens quietly lose hours — and where a lot of knife injuries happen. A HALLDE machine fixes both at once, which is why it's the food prep brand we point serious operators toward. The appeal is that it scales with the kitchen: the compact RG-50 suits a cafe, the RG-250 and 350 handle a busy restaurant or institution, and the floor-standing RG-400i runs at production volumes. Two things we rate especially: the replaceable blades, so a dull cutting tool gets re-bladed rather than binned, and the genuine safety engineering, with interlocks that stop the machine the moment a guard is moved. For healthcare and aged-care customers, the diwash machines and the SB-4 blender are purpose-built for modified-texture catering and dishwasher sanitisation. It's premium equipment that earns its price back in labour saved and risk removed — and we're glad to help you size the right machine and cutting tools to your menu.

It Started with Butter

HALLDE's first product, in 1941, wasn't a vegetable machine at all — it was a butter portioner. The inventor Ernst Häll, whose name the company carries, built a machine that produced soft, attractive, easy-to-spread portions of butter that also looked a little larger — a genuine advantage in a period of wartime rationing. The timing was perfect and the young company took off.

The pivot to what HALLDE is now known for came, as the best ideas often do, from a real kitchen. Watching his wife laboriously cut potatoes into julienne for a traditional Swedish dish, Ernst was convinced there had to be a faster, safer, better way — and set about building it. The vegetable preparation machine was a success almost immediately, and foreign buyers were soon knocking on the door. More than eighty years on, HALLDE remains a focused specialist where many competitors are generalists, with around 85% of its production exported through representatives in more than 80 countries, and everything still engineered, built and tested at home in Sweden. As the company puts it: they stick to doing what they do best.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which HALLDE machine is right for my kitchen?

It comes down to volume and space. The compact RG-50 and RG-100 suit cafes and smaller kitchens; the RG-200, RG-250 and RG-350 handle busy restaurants, institutions and high-volume prep; and the floor-standing RG-400i runs at food-production scale. The combination cutters (CC-32S and CC-34) pack veg prep and a vertical cutter into one compact unit for kitchens short on bench space. Tell us your volume and menu and we'll match the machine.

Are the cutting tools included with the machine?

It varies by model. The combination cutters include a starter slicer and grater/shredder; most of the RG vegetable prep machines are supplied without cutting tools so you can choose the cuts your menu needs. HALLDE offers a very wide range of discs — slicing, grating, shredding, julienne, dicing, crimping and chips — and we can help you select the right set.

What's the difference between a vegetable prep machine and a vertical cutter blender?

A vegetable preparation machine feeds product through interchangeable discs to slice, dice, shred, grate and julienne — it's for cutting. A vertical cutter blender works in a bowl to chop, mix, puree, blend and mince — it's for processing into textures like pâtés, soups and dressings. The combination cutters do both. If you need both functions and have the space, separate machines give the most capacity; if not, a combi cutter is the smart compromise.

Will these run on a standard power supply?

Most HALLDE machines in our range run on a standard 10 amp plug, including high-capacity units like the RG-350. Three-phase versions are available on request for several models, and the floor-standing RG-400i is three-phase only. Each product lists its requirements — ask us if you're unsure what suits your premises.

How do you pronounce HALLDE?

It's "HELL-deh" — two syllables, with the emphasis on the first. The name comes from the company's founder, the Swedish inventor Ernst Häll, so it's essentially his name with a soft "-deh" on the end.
