EU's Take

Our Take on Kamati

Kamati sits in the value tier of the kitchen knife market — not premium, not throwaway, just honest German steel at a sensible price. The Gourmet range is a solid first kitchen knife set or replacement for blunt supermarket knives. The Classic Forged range is where we'd point anyone who wants the upgrade — the forged construction feels meaningfully different and holds an edge much longer.

All Kamati knives are hand wash only. Dishwasher heat will damage the edge and the handles over time.

Real German Steel at a Fair Price

Kamati is an Australian kitchen knife brand designed in Sydney since 1947. The range is built around one decision: put proper German 1.4116 stainless steel into kitchens at a price most home cooks can justify.

There are two tiers. The Gourmet range is laser cut from German 1.4116 steel, full-tang and triple-riveted. It covers the full kitchen — paring, utility, Santoku, bread, cook's, slicing, boning, plus shears, sharpening steel and a cleaver. The Classic Forged range steps up to fully forged blades in the same steel, with a heavier balanced feel and longer edge retention. The Avant-Garde sets pair forged blades with smarter blocks, including one with a built-in tablet holder and one on a revolving base.

All Kamati knives are hand wash only.
