The Pocket Pal X2 is a compact sharpener and outdoor tool for hikers, campers and backpackers. It has coarse and fine pull-through slots and a fold-out tapered diamond rod, then adds a fire starter, compass, push-button LED light and signal whistle to the same small frame. Light, tough and easy to carry, it covers the essentials when you are off the track.
Why it works
- Coarse carbide and fine ceramic (1,000 grit) slots sharpen both sides of the blade at once
- Tapered medium diamond rod (400 grit) sharpens serrations, gut hooks and single-bevel blades
- Fire starter throws sparks off the sharpening slot
- Push-button LED light for better visibility in low light
- Compass and signal whistle built into the frame
- Preset angles give a consistent edge every time
Care
Before first use, pull the fire starter through the carbide slot two or three times with light pressure to remove the black protective coating. Blades and the fire starter only work when pulled through the slots in the direction marked.
