This version of the Scace 2 is for Nuova Simonelli brand machines only.
The Scace 2 takes portafilter use to the next level. It provides both pressure and temperature readings directly at the group, where data is most relevant. The device allows for measurement of temperature to within a 10th of a degree. The "T" type thermocouple is extremely fast and accurate when used in conjunction with a good quality digital thermometer. The thermometer needs to have the ability to ready "T" type thermocouples.
In addition to temperature, pressure is also the other fluctuating factor in how an espresso machine brews. Knowing the brew pressure is just as critical as the temperature. The Scace 2 Thermofilter has an integrated glycerin-filled pressure gauge providing accurate brew pressure readings. If you're after quality control, the Scace is a must.
Instructions for use:
As with any portafilter, with your machine powered on and running normally, insert the device into your desired group head. Rotate counter-clockwise (looking directly down at the handle) until the handle stops. Tighten the device a little more, to ensure a proper seal is attained. Press the water dispense button on the desired group head and that's how simple it is!
Make your water dispensing pressure and steam boiler temperature adjustments as needed. If unfamiliar with how to make these adjustments, contact your roaster for a referral to a qualified technician. Expect water to exhaust out of the bottom fitting on the portafilter body: the orifice in the fitting has been designed and is calibrated to simulate the flow of water as if you were using a standard portafilter with grounds in it.
