A serious chopping board built for the volume work that destroys thinner boards within months. At 60mm thick, this is a butcher's-block-class slab — heavy enough to absorb the impact of cleavers, full-bodied chef's knives, and bone work without flexing or sliding around the bench. The thickness also means the board can be resurfaced multiple times across its life by sanding and re-oiling, rather than being thrown out when the surface starts to score.
Suited to commercial butchery, deli prep, large-format home kitchens, and any cook who works through significant prep volume — breaking down whole proteins, dicing produce in batches, portioning roasts. Acacia's dense end grain handles knife strikes better than the softer woods used in cheaper boards, and the natural figure means each board has its own character that develops further with use.
The 48 x 36cm footprint gives genuine working room for two-handed prep — long enough to break down a side of salmon, deep enough to hold a whole chicken with space for the trimmings. Substantial weight keeps it planted on the bench through aggressive chopping work without needing a damp cloth underneath.
100% acacia. Hand wash only — avoid soaking, dishwashers, and harsh detergents. A light rub with food-grade mineral oil every month or two keeps the surface conditioned and resistant to staining. Re-sand and re-oil if the surface scores deeply over time — the thickness gives you years of resurfacing before the board is genuinely worn out.
