A general-purpose whetstone for kitchen knives that have started to lose their edge. The 1200 grit sits between coarse repair stones and fine finishing stones, making it the right tool for routine sharpening without removing more material than necessary. Use it to bring back a knife that's gone dull from regular use, or as the working stone in a multi-stage sharpening progression.
Made in Seki, Japan by Sumikama Cutlery, the same factory behind Kasumi knives. Seki has been Japan's centre of blade making for over 700 years, and the same ceramic stone technology used to keep Sumikama's high-carbon VG-10 blades in working order is what's in this stone.
The marbled finish gives the stone its name and makes it visually distinctive from the standard Kasumi range. Suited to all kitchen knives, Japanese and European, including harder Japanese steels that need a ceramic stone rather than a softer natural one. The non-slip rubber base holds the stone steady on the bench while you work. Presented in a Kasumi gift box.
For knives with serious dulling or chips, start on a coarser stone like the Kasumi 600/1000 Combination first. For mirror-polish finishing after this stone, finish on the Kasumi Marble 2000 or a higher grit.
